New Wiggles Toys Are On The Market

Friday, August 22nd, 2008

Any child who loves the Wiggles will want to have Wiggles toys, but sadly, these are very hard to find. Luckily, even when you can’t find them in the stores, you can still find them online in many places. The Wiggles’ website has a great variety, but you do have to pay for international shipping and wait for your order to arrive. You can also find them on eBay, but the selection is often limited. However, it appears, that is about to change.

The old license for making Wiggles toys in North America was neglected by the company that paid for the rights. They put out some great toys, but in the end stopped producing them. No one else could make them, as this company held the license. The license has now been renewed and the public should expect some new Wiggles toys to come on to the market very soon. You can find Dora and any other type rather easily, but the Wiggles are still very hard to find. Hopefully, this new license will change all of that.

The most popular Wiggles toys of the past have been the talking dolls and the guitar. The first guitar was the most popular, but many liked the second version as well. These can sometimes be found online, but the prices are pretty high. They put out a limited selection of Wiggles Cowboy dolls that pop up on eBay once in a great while, and they often go for outrageous amounts of money. Some hang on to them and then sell them for this very reason. As with anything else, there are some very serious Wiggles toys collectors out there always looking for unique things they have not seen anywhere else.

Some Wiggles toys have dramatically gone up in value with the retirement of Greg Page. He was the original yellow Wiggle, and now that he has had to retire due to health issues, anything with his image is going for more money on sites like eBay. People want to remember him, and things with his likeness are popular and sought after. The Wiggles will move on without him, as they have asked Sam Moran to step into the group. However, that does not mean Greg will be forgotten. He is one fourth of what made the Wiggles special, and that means he will always be special to fans both young and old.

The Story Of Spawn Toys

Friday, August 8th, 2008

The comic book series of Spawn has captivated its fans for many years. It is a dark, menacing world that has also produced an animated television series and a movie. Dedicated followers of the stories also like to collect the vast amount of merchandise available. The first Spawn toys and action figures went on sale in 1994 under license form McFarlane Toys.

The story tells the tale of a former CIA agent called Al Simmons who discovers the corrupt practices of his boss, only to be murdered by him. Simmons is dispatched to hell but makes a deal for his soul as he misses his wife so much. He returns to the land of the living as hellspawn.

Spawn was the brainchild of cartoonist Todd McFarlane, who had made his reputation on Spider-Man comics. He also went on to form the manufacturing company whose first creations were the Spawn toys. This gives McFarlane creative control and his products set a new standard in toy production. They are more detailed than competitors and meticulous in both the sculpting and painting.

The range soon became collector’s items and fans were delighted with the comic that came with each character. The first series of products was launched with Medieval Spawn in Blue Armor and Nectoplasm Spawn in translucent, green material. They were accompanied by the villains, Tremor, a Gold Clown, a Gold Violator and Overtkill. The versatile range includes many series, including Dark Ages, The Viking Age, Mutations, Regenerated, Evolutions and Other Worlds Spawn toys.

A live action movie version was released in 1997 and Todd McFarlane was involved in the story. It starred Michael Jai White as Spawn and John Leguizamo as Clown/Violator. There is an action figure set that depicts the graveyard scene from the movie with Spawn and Clown.

New products keep the fans happy and McFarlane has announced launch dates for retail and online outlets for 2007. Summer sees a one off, limited edition vinyl doll, which has been developed by a Japanese toy company under license. There are various Spawn toys promised in the fall, including themes such as Manga, Samurai, Pirate and the ever popular Necroplasm.

The TV series, which ran from 1997 - 1999 is said to return in 2007 with Keith David voicing Spawn once again. The original series won an Emmy award and its animation was widely praised. Fans will be hoping for more Spawn toys as a result of its return.
