I have Always Enjoyed Plush Stuffed Animals

Tuesday, August 19th, 2008

Our society has become more aware of bacteria and germs. Every where you go in public you see signs to wash your hands, especially in public restrooms. Our agency adjoins the public health nurses office. One of the nurses put a poster in the employee restroom that goes through the step by step procedure for washing your hands. The poster encourages you to open the door to the restroom with a paper towel when you are exiting to avoid the germs on the door knobs. Many people are using anti-bacteria soaps and dish detergents to keep a safer kitchen area.

All of the hand washing and anti-bacteria soaps are good; however as with everything they need to be used in moderation. We need to be exposed to some bacteria so we build up our immune systems. I work with families that have mentally ill children or parents. In two of the families the mother’s have obsessive compulsive disorder. They are constantly after their children to wash their hands, yet they allow them to put toys that are in public areas in their mouths. One of the mother’s loves to collect plush stuffed animals. She had them displayed in rather interesting ways throughout the home. She does not give a second though to her infant playing with the plush stuffed toys, even though they are probably covered with dust mites and other bacteria. She picks up the soft cuddly animals at garage sales and second hand stores.

I have always enjoyed plush stuffed animals. I had quite a collection when I was a child. My brother helped out at the local fairs and carnivals when we were growing up and he would bring home some of the stuffed animals that were ripped. My mother would insist that we vacuum them and set them outside in freezing cold temperatures in the winter to kill bacteria. I mentioned this to my client who collects the toys. She said she had never thought about the toys having germs on them. The next time I visited the family she had the entire porch lined with the plush stuffed animals. It was a cold day and she was using my mother’s technique of freezing off the germs. She said that she had put out the cushions of the furniture as well as the pillows in the house as well. It was good to see that she was still allowing her children to play, and was still enjoying her animals, yet was making sure that they would not get sick.

The point of this article about Wholesale Stuffed Animals is to help you to the next level and show you what this amazing subject has to offer.

My husband and I have a tendency to stretch ourselves too thin. We get overly involved in community and church activities to the point of feeling used. In our former parish we were lectors, Eucharistic ministers, on the parish council and the environment committee. When we ere asked to chair the fund raiser we agreed to do it for one year. We ended up heading it for five. When we relocated to a different area we agreed that we would not jump in with volunteering with our new parish. Within a year we were both on committees. Last year we were asked to head our parish fund raiser. I cannot believe that we said yes.

The parish had tried an adult prom the year before as a fund raiser. It was to be a formal dinner followed by a dance. Such few tickets were sold to parish members that the event needed to be opened to the community. The event raised a small amount of money once all the expenses were paid. The young families in the parish could not justify the price of the ticket and the cost of a babysitter for the evening. This year it was decided to have a family event. It was going to be a carnival evening with games for children and adults and concessions. We wanted very nice prizes. We decided that stuffed animals go over big with kids of all ages. We needed to find wholesale stuffed animals so that we would be able to keep the cost of the event down. We also solicited prizes from area businesses and took in donations for a silent auction.

In the introduction, we saw how this subject can be beneficial to anyone. We will continue by explaining the basics of this topic.

One person on the committee volunteered to locate wholesale stuffed animals. They had worked in a large toy store for a while and thought that they could get some resources from the manager of the store. They thought is we could not find wholesale stuffed animals the manager of the store maybe willing to sell us some of the stores supply for the stores cost. The donations for the silent auction were very generous. People had great ideas of donating fishing trips, home made cookies for the holidays, lawn and yard clean up and other services as well as items.

A week before the carnival we had a meeting with all the committee members to make sure everything was in place. The person in charge of the wholesale stuffed animals came into the meeting carrying four huge stuffed bears. He said that he had several more in his van as well as smaller stuffed animals. He would not give us the name of the benefactor, but it turned out that an owner of a warehouse for wholesale stuffed animals anonymously donated the prizes. We new that all the kids that came were going to be delighted with the animals.
