Bobble Head Dolls As Collectors Items
This article about bobble head dolls, hopes to give you the knowledge you need, to feel that you have a firm grasp on the subject.
Have you ever thought about how some items sell and others do not? There are some novelty items that will last for about a minute in the market place, and then there are others that will be around from generation to generation. I guess marketing is a big part of this. It seems that even the silliest idea or product can go far with the right advertisement campaign, and the brightest most useful idea can fall to the wayside without the right backing. It all comes down to presenting it to the most people and sparking their interest.
When I was growing up my father would have different things hanging in the car. He had different bobble head dolls through the years. He had the one that is a dog that is constantly shaking its head up and down. He had a Styrofoam banana on the antenna so we could find the car in a parking lot and there were a number of religious relics also. I remember having to through everything into the glove compartment before I went to pick up my friends and then putting everything back in place when I got home. I found all the junk, especially the bobble head dolls to be embarrassing. We have had a lot of fun during the first portion of this article and hopefully you feel as though you have a firm grasp on the topic.
A few years ago several of the American league teams began giving away bobble head dolls of star players to the fans. They would give out a certain number of the dolls on a first come first serve basis. The babble head dolls have a vague resemblance to the player and they are wearing the uniform and number of the player. The first year that this promotion was announced I though that it was really stupid and that it would never last. I was wrong. Some of the original bobble head dolls from the first year are being sold for big money.
Now that the promotion has run for several years collectors are trying to get full sets, so this is increasing the values on those released the earliest. One of my girlfriends son is trying to collect as many of the dolls as he can. Last year when the doll of a the teams favorite pitcher was being given away she went to stand in line with her son for three hours prior to the game starting so that they would be able to get on of the bobble heads. They did manage to get one. She said that you have to put them in a safe place because she noticed during the game that people were walking around and picking up the dolls where people had placed them on the floor of the bleachers. I could not believe that people would go around stealing during a baseball game.
Over time, you will begin to understand how bobble head dolls really come together and you’ll just love to have a full collection.
